Place standards toolkit

4.0 Conclusion

Should the additional methodology contained in this document be implemented, the responses generated by the tool will capture the issues affecting the community relating to private car use and shared transport provision. These issues should then be developed accordingly, within the scope of the project. The same methodology can then be used to assess how well a shared transport response has been implemented in the finalized development.

This guidance is intended to encourage users of the Place Standards tool to consider shared transport as a viable alternative to the modes of transport currently prevalent in our society. It is not intended to in any way discourage active travel modes, such as walking, wheeling, and cycling, but is seen as promoting an alternative to private car use in our communities.
